Según informó mediante su cuenta de Twitter del departamento de bomberos del Distrito de Columbia y los servicios de emergencias médicas el fuego quedó bajo control, entidades que calificaron al suceso como un fuego de dos alarmas. Poco después de la medianoche del martes al miércoles se vieron llamas alzándose desde el tejado del edificio, en un barrio donde hay varias embajadas.

Más de 100 bomberos combatieron las llamas durante unas dos horas y uno de ellos fue trasladado a un hospital para ser atendido, según WRC-TV. En un primer momento no había información sobre la causa del incendio.

El incidente se inició alrededor de las 12:23. Según un reporte del portal de noticias de la ABC, los bomberos lucharon contra un fuego muy agresivo en el techo y al interior del inmueble.

La publicación menciona que no se han registrado personas afectadas por el incendio, aunque sí daños materiales. Los bomberos aún no han determinado las causas que habrían originado las llamas.
